Week 2 in the books in Draftteks inaugural NCAA Fantasy Football league.   The Roger Fitch Kentucky Wildcats and Fooch Fucillo’s Cal Bears lead with 2 wins.

Drafttek NCAA FF Week 2

1) Kentucky Wildcats – Fitch got solid performance virtually top to bottom on his 12 player roster in order to beat Penn State 189-167.  QB Jake Locker (UWash), RB DeMarco Murray (Okla) and WR Emmanual Sanders scored 29, 27 and 24 respectively.    Could’ve been more – his WR Detron Lewis scored only 3 points.  With Texas Tech QB Taylor Potts throwing for 400+ yards and 7 TD’s, Lewis missed out on his share of the pie due to injury.

2) Cal Bears – Fucillo stumbled into a low scoring 144-133 win over Florida.   His score could’ve been much higher as both his starting QB’s  scored goose-eggs.    Fooch rode a 36 point effort from WR Ryan Broyles (Okla)  and added 28 from Heismann candidate RB Jahvid Best – who still hasn’t played a full game.    His Defense  (uhh – Florida) added another 25.

3) Oklahoma State Cowboys – Brett Stott dropped a nailbiter 153-151 to Florida State.  Tactical FF mistake cost Stott this game – kicker Josh Shene of OleMiss had the week off – Stott didn’t have a reserve K.    Jacquizz Rodgers (RB-Oregon St)  again scored big with 33 points.   Te remainder of the roster all contributed, however there were no 20+ haymakers to join Rodgers.

4) USC Trojans – MY USC Trojans thumped hapless Rutgers 174-125 in a game that wasn’t as close as the score indicated.    We look forward to the Week 3 contest v undefeated Kentucky.    A handful of primetime performances overcame weakness elsewhere in the lineup.   Taylor Potts (QB TexasTech) rolled up 46 while Kellen Moore (QB Boise St) added 26.  RB Frank Goodin (Lousiana Monroe) tacked on 29 and WR Golden Tate of Notre Dame contributed 27.  These 4 contributed 128 of my 174 total.

More to Follow . . .

5) Purdue Boilermakers - Rick McGlothlin’s Boilermakers pounded Buffalo 180-152.  Mac made good use of namesake Purdue RB Ralph Bolden who scored 3 times and rolled up 36 points.  Arizona RB Nick Grigsby added 33 for Mac, while Buffalo QB (what a traitor!) Zack Maymard also topped 30 points with 30 points!

6) Florida State Seminoles - Dale Bettinelli’s FSU squad posted their first win on the year by edging Oklahoma State 153-151.  Hawaii WR Greg Salas and Cinci QB Tony Pike led a well balanced attack with 28 and 27, respectively.

7) Florida Gators - Justin Rauffaf’s Gators lost to Cal 144-143.  FLA QB Tim Tebow (38 pts) couldn’t carry a plethora of poor performers.  They’ll face Colorado in week 3.

8) Rutgers Scarlet Knights - Bill Bliss Rutgers squad was crushed by USC 174-125.  QBs Case Keenum and Joe Webb scored big (31 and 24 points), but like Florida above, Bliss was plagued by numerous weak performers.

9) Michigan Wolverines - Big Blue gets into the hunt with a win over Colorado 170-164.  QB Colt McCoy, RB CJ Spiller and the Iowa D led the way for owner Mike Schottey (33, 22, 31 pts) .   UM faces Purdue in week 3.

10) Buffalo Bulls - Rob Occhipinti’s Bulls dropped one to Purdue 180-152.  Naaman Roosevelt (Buffalo WR) had a big day with 2 scores and 30 points.   But other than RB Cam Montgomery’s (North Texas) 23 points, Rob’s Bulls were plagued by low to middling performances.

11) Penn State Nittany Lions - Owner Joe Mays is wondering what it takes to win.  Last week His Lions had the 4th highes score, but lost to Rutgers.  This week Joe gets the 5th highest score but gets beat again.  189-165 to Kentucky.  RBs Bryce Beall (Houston 27 pts) and Evan Royster (PSU 23 points) led a balanced attack in a losing cause.

12) Colorado Buffaloes - Tim Hudson dropped his second in a row.    Although Tim looked like DivIII in week 1, at least the Buffs were competitive in week 2.    Thye lost to Michgan in a high scoring near miss 170-164.  Joe had a foursome of 20+ scorers, but he may have lost it by failing to notice Nevada’s bye week.  RB Jake Sharp (Kansas), WR Mardy Gilyard (WR Cinci), WR Vince Brown (SDSU) and RB John Clay (RB Wisconsin) scored 33, 32, 23, and 20, respectively.

Until next week!!
